How to Remove Oil from Concrete

Oil stains should be cleaned as soon as they happen on uncoated or porous concrete. Spills that happened long ago may not be completely removed, but can be lightened. Here is how you can clean oil stains on concrete with this degreaser:

  1. Spray the stained area with water.
  2. Pour the degreaser onto the oil, grease, or gas stain.
  3. Scrub the spill/stain with a synthetic bristle scrub brush to work the degreaser into the surface, starting from the outside edge and working towards the center. Use a push broom for larger areas. Surface may be slippery at this point because it is wet.
  4. Allow the degreaser to soak in for five minutes. Don’t let the solution dry! If it begins to dry, spray with more water.
  5. Rinse the entire area with a strong water stream and let dry.

For old stains or oil that has saturated into the concrete, you may need to repeat the degreasing process; however, you must allow the concrete to dry for a minimum of 24 hours before using the degreaser on the same area again.
